Robert Lowery - A Good Man Is Hard To Find (REVIEW - Guitar Player)

Working with a fabulous harmonica player and upright bassist, the 62-year-old bluesman from Santa Cruz, California, captures the loose, rollicking feel of Maxwell Street blues jammers of the '50s. His snakey, electrified ... son's "Last Fair Deal Gone Down" is hypnotically compelling, as are his acoustic covers of Muddy's "Louisiana Blues" and John Lee Hooker's "Hobo Blues" with Katie Webster grooving on piano. Lowery's stripped-to-essentials guitar style and authentic voice bespeak a lifetime in the blues. A winner!
